Admission Requirements

Our admission process is fair, transparent, and inclusive, ensuring a balanced mix of participants across gender and background.

Who Can Apply?

Aspiring filmmakers who show a strong interest in storytelling and filmmaking but have limited access to formal training are welcome to apply.

Minimum Requirements

To be eligible for admission, applicants must:

  • Own a laptop
  • Have a stable internet connection
  • Demonstrate commitment to learning filmmaking
  • Have a basic understanding of filmmaking or show evidence of prior training or certification
  • Have basic computer literacy skills
  • Be able to read, write, and communicate in basic English

Application Process

  • Open Call – Applications are announced through local radio, social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram), and on the DFS Africa website.
  • Online Application – Interested applicants complete application forms shared via the listed platforms.
  • Screening & Categorisation – Applications are reviewed and sorted based on the preferred courses.
  • Selection Committee Review – A committee comprised of course instructors, the project lead, and an independent film expert select the final candidates.
  • Notification – All applicants will be notified via email or phone about the outcome of their application.
